A day-long masterclass in physical theatre, led by a master practitioner from Athens, Fanis Katechos.
Saturday 3 February 2024, 10.00 – 16.30,
Boulevard Bischoffsheim 11, Brussels 1000.
For all aged 16 and over.
The workshop will focus on the connections between body, sound, imagination, psyche and environment. How can we isolate them, explore them, and then reconnect them? Participants will come into contact with a ritual way of working both on a personal and group level.
We will focus on:
• Building unrealistic physical behaviours
• Awakening the intuitive body
• Sharpening the senses, specifically vision and hearing
• Expanding the horizon of imagination
• Redefining the function of the individual within the whole and in the power of collective energy
• Discovering our personal/real sound and the power of silence
Together we will try to discover our limits, break them and create new ones. We will play with balance and imbalance, we will step out of our comfort zone, so that we discover something that already exists, but lies in oblivion.
The workshop will use theatrical methods and techniques of Jerzy Grotowski, Odin Teatret, Tadashi Suzuki, Susan Batson, techniques of mime, theatrical clown and Noh theater, but also techniques of the Research Theater introduced by the animator.
