Mehmet Avcu is an Istanbul-and-Brussels based actor, instructor and voiceover artist whose work is built at the intersection of analytical discipline and creative curiosity. He has relished a parallel career-by-night of directing opera and theatre — highly accessible, sometimes bilingual, always pop culture-infused takes on classical works. Brussels audiences most recently enjoyed his swingin’-60’s Two Gentlemen of Verona with Brussels Shakespeare Society, for whom he also portrayed Cassius in Julius Caesar last January. He is grateful to have found a new artistic home here with groups from the BSS to ECC, for whom he will next direct the European premiere of a modern screwball farce in verse, Homunculus, at the Warehouse Studio Theatre in April–with next stop: Edinburgh Fringe 2026!

Stanislavski's System is a specific and very useful acting technique that aims to create an emotionally authentic performance. The actors internalise in depth the inner world of their character, together with their characteristics and motivation. This is a methodology that helps the actors to blend with the character by the extent that the actor becomes the character, as the character was real.
In this workshop we will explore the importance of finding the humanity in your character. We will explore how to achieve a more truthful, authentic performance and develop skills to connect emotionally with your character. You can either bring your own monologue to work on or Michelle will help you find a suitable monologue.
Guided by the timeless classic "Exercises in Style" by Raymond Queneau, this workshops will engage you in a creative journey to explore the depths of character development, transforming simple scenarios into complex scenes with three-dimensional characters through a series of inventive and playful exercises.

Have you ever wondered why sometimes when you listen to a musical theatre song, you feel so sad, or motivated, or touched? It isn't only the music and the lyrics, although that is a big part of it, but also the acting the singer injects into the song. In this workshop we will work on songs as if they were monologues, delve deep into the thoughts, emotions and subtexts of characters, while understanding the importance of context, typology and style and also learn how to combine these elements with musical rhythm, keys and musical phrases, orchestration and mood.
Sandford Meisner's technique is all about connection and emphasises three elements: emotional preparation, repetition exercises, and improvisation. In this session, Miryam will use Meisner to guide you through exercises through which you will experience the importance of connection.
In this workshop you will explore the art of stage presence. Through a series of exercises and short scenes, you'll gain the tools you need to develop a commanding stage presence and enhance your connection with the environment and fellow actors.
"Acting is behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances” Sanford Meisner. In this session we will go deeper into the essential tools we need to create a true character and how to apply our own uniqueness to build a solid performance.
