Guided by the timeless classic Exercises in Style by Raymond Queneau, this workshop invites you to explore character development through playful variation and creative reinvention. Like Queneau’s endless retellings of the same story, you’ll experiment with different approaches and perspectives to discover new sides of a character. Through this fun and imaginative process, simple traits will grow into fully alive, three-dimensional stage personas—starting almost from scratch and bursting with possibility.
Named by some the father of modern acting, Konstantin Stanislavski developed one of the most famous, complex techniques were actors are trained to create believable characters and deliver natural performances. The tools his primarily uses are the magical 'if' (which makes the character's motivations the same as the actor's), emotional memory( encouraging actors to use their own experiences to emphasis the one of the characters) or super-objective (the backbone of every role, the thing they want more than anything in the world). In this workshop, I will combine some of his main approaches with improvisation skills and connection exercises thus creating a fresh, natural method that can bring more authenticity and flesh to the dramatic act.
An introduction to the building blocks of a comedy set, how comedians find material, and simple prompts to get your creativity flowing. This workshop is for anyone curious about stand-up and wanting to know what it takes to get onto that stage and make people laugh! In this session, you'll learn how to shape everyday experiences into punchy jokes, understand the rhythm of setup and punchline, and practice techniques to boost stage presence and confidence. By the end, participants will not only have a toolkit of comedy basics but also the confidence to take their first steps toward performing.
This workshop focuses on the communicative potential of the moving body and on freeing the body-mind and imagination through movement. We will work with various psycho-physical performance practices, exploring breath and movement, physical centers, the senses, the projection and reception of energy, space and atmosphere, and qualities of movement. We will move and dance individually, in pairs, and as an ensemble, exploring presence and connection. By cultivating deep listening and trust, we aim to release inhibitions and open up a wider range of possibilities for human behavior.
Acting in “American” English is an approachable and fun class to activate your own “American” sound. Not an actor? No problem! Students and business professionals are welcome! So, whether your goal is to sound more like a native, learn how to flip the switch from British to American, or simply speak more clearly and confidently, this masterclass is a step in the right direction. We will target mouth placement, prosody, and body language using American theater and film texts. Come to class with your favorite American in mind, and let’s play! Native English speakers are welcome!
This immersive Method Acting workshop is designed to help actors deeply connect with their characters through emotional truth and personal experience. Participants will explore core techniques developed by Stanislavski, Strasberg, and Adler, including sense memory, affective memory, and working on psychological gesture. Through scene work and exercises, we will learn how to access emotions, build believable characters, and bring depth and honesty in the performance. Ideal for actors of all levels looking to refine their craft and expand their emotional range.
What's in a movement? Come explore character building from "without". Focusing on the given circumstances and physical truth of a character draws in audiences, allowing them to be totally invested in a character's humanity, before they ever utter a word. In the first half of class, we will explore basic movement elements from Rudolf von Laban and other theater practitioners before moving onto text and subtext (the unsaid). This course is good for anyone interested in character building, theater devising, and scene work.
This workshop is dedicated to all the performers from the artistic world who want to explore and understand how intimacy on stage can change the narrative. The exercises you will learn, inspired from Spolin, Meisner, Stanislavski, but also from the improvisational theatre will gently teach you ways of exploring your physical and emotional availability, more truthfully and impactful. All of this, in a safe and positive environment, adapted to your own needs and capabilities and in sync with the ones of your stage partners.
This playful, practical workshop explores the power of comedic personas - from bold alter egos to subtle character shifts. Dive into the world of character-based stand-up comedy, where exaggeration, alter egos, and comedic personas open up fresh and unexpected ways to connect with an audience. Step outside yourself and into a whole new voice! Through guided exercises and performance prompts, participants will experiment with physicality, voice, and perspective to bring new characters to life. You'll learn how adopting an alter ego can unlock creative freedom, build confidence on stage, and add unique depth and versatility to your performance.
