We spend a lot of our days in silence and many of us do not use the full potential of our voice in our daily lives. We will discover exercises that will enable you to unlock your true voice.
Once you have found your true voice, we will journey through different exercises in which you will be able to consciously make alterations to change the tone of what you are saying to meet any occasion.
Martin Luther King, Winston Churchill and Dwight Eisenhower were among the greatest orators of the last century. We will use examples of great orators to guide our work for the final few sessions.
General introduction and overview of vocal technique: from warming up the body and voice to discovering correct posture and breathing for a supported voice.
A closer and practical look at prosody and how to interpret and use rhetorical devices effectively. Exercises to help deal with nerves and practice feeling comfortable in front of an audience.
A focus on character and energising the voice to maximise audience engagement through storytelling and improv.
A consolidation of weeks 1-3 with emphasis on vocal variation, intonation and vocal speed.
Participants rehearse and deliver an own-choice speech/poem/presentation utilising the learning from weeks 1-4 and receive peer feedback.
SPEECHES takes place on MONDAYS.
